| | | Torbo Blasting
This galvanized sign needed to be stripped for repainting. We torbo blasted it with sand.
Baking Soda Cleaning
400 Sq Ft. Granite Medallion at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. We cleaned it using a Torbo Blast utilizing Baking Soda Media.
------------
We blasted paint off of a Mustang using our baking soda media because it is softer and more appropriate given the thin metal body of the automobile. We always recommend customers to use a lighter or softer media on thin metals otherwise Traditional Sand has a high risk of warping those metal pieces.
Our customer wanted to clean off the existing paint and take the body back to bare metal so it can be prepped for a new paint coat.
Traditional Sandblasting
Using our river sand media, we removed the rust from the tow truck bumper, frame, headache rack, bed, and tow unit. Once we cleaned those areas down to bare metal, we then painted the cleaned areas with a DTM (Direct to Metal) black paint. We completed this job on a fixed based pricing structure based on time and materials. The cleaning and painting was performed at our shop location in Kansas City, MO.
While sand is one of our least expensive medias, it is very aggressive. As you can see in the video, the sand removes the rust and old paint very quickly. It is important for our customers to understand that on weak or flimsy metals, sand has the potential to heat up and warp those metal areas. In those situations where warping is a potential issue or concern, we would then use our Baking Soda or Glass Bead media. Those medias are softer, therefore the process takes longer, and costs more.
---------------
This job came to Blast-It-Clean as a rush order from one of our current customers. There were 4 pipes that needs all rust on the exterior to be cleaned back to bare white metal. We received the pipes on Wednesday September 21, 2011 and completed the job with pick up by the customer on Friday September 23, 2011. The pipes were all at least 40 Feet long; the longest pipe was approximately 50 Feet long.
Handling Time was the largest obstacle to complete this job. It took approximately 90 minutes to unload the pipes for delivery and then again to re-load for pick up. We also had handling time where the pipes were rolled in order to clean the remaining bottom section of each one. We utilized our River Sand media for this job because it cleaned the fastest and there was no issue with warping the metal.
