With a full service shop at our location Blast-it-Clean has the ability to work on all kinds of automobiles. When stripping a car or car parts it is essential that all care is taken to not warp or damage the surface. We use Baking Soda primarily for this reason.
Car Parts Cleaned with Baking Soda:
- Hoods
- Doors
- Fenders
- Grills
- Cabs
Benefits of Baking Soda on Car Parts:
- Removes all surface rust
- Does not conduce heat thusly cannot warp the metal
- Safe to use on rubber gaskets and around glass
- Does not profile the metal
- Leaves a nice smooth paint ready surface
The one drawback to Baking Soda is that it can not completely eliminate rust the way sand or glass can. It does however eliminate all surface rust allowing you to repaint the surface cleanly. Since sand, glass, and several other medias, not only leave profiles but also generate heat, they have the potential to damage the delicate parts of cars.
Other parts of cars we can clean:
- Frames
- Engines
- Underbellies
- Leaf Springs
- Wheels
Frames, wheels and other similar parts made of heavier metals can safely be shot without fear of warping due to heat, with sand and glass. Depending on whether you are powdercoating or painting both of those are safe, inexpensive medias for those types of parts. For engines and underbellies, we have used dry ice to remove grease, oil, and the cumulative grime to allow them to be inspected properly or in some case just to allow them to be shined up.
